Harbor Seals Swim "Camps"

Develop your skills, stamina and stroke technique in an eighteen-day series of Water Safety and coach instructed ninety-minute sessions.

Swimming takes place in deep water; for swimmers already involved in competitive swimming. Offered in July.

Current Harbor Seal coaches and former Harbor Seals witht Water Safety Instructor certification explain essentials of the four competitive strokes and conduct drills designed to improve stroke technique. Daily (weekday) sessions enhance technique in front crawl (freestyle), back crawl (backstroke), breaststroke and butterfly. Racing starts and turn technique for all four competitive strokes, as well as Individual Medley, are also refined. In addition, basic life-saving skills are introduced and practiced.

Pre-requisite: Swim two lengths of the pool and have a basic knowledge of the four competitive strokes. Participants must be comfortable enough and confident enough in the water that group instruction will be both beneficial to the student and the other students in the class. Limited enrollment.

Maintenance of the FHHS pool facility is performed by a private company under contract with the NYC Department of Education and is not, in any way, under the control of the Bay Ridge Aquatics Institute, Inc.

All teaching costs, security and  permit fees must be paid for whether classes are attended or not, therefore BRAINS cannot offer make-up classes, credits or refunds for any classes you may miss. In the event that a class is cancelled we will, at our option, either schedule a make-up or offer a refund or credit for the number of classes cancelled.
